Going to Disneyland!

In between trips to Sea World and the Magic Kingdom, Leanne Sherman fit in the Desert International Triathlon in Palm Springs yesterday morning. Clearly in a hurry to see the rest of California, she crossed the line with a speedy time of 2:29, taking 7th in her age group. Congratulations, Leanne! Enjoy your vacation!

The Tri Season is Upon Us!

Although it may be hard to imagine, triathlon season has arrived! Many of us are eager for more outdoor training and racing. Hang in there, spring is just around the corner!

While YOU may have been training indoors due to snow and ice-covered roads this weekend, Mercury Risers James Galbraith and Sergio Del Piccolo were battling it out at the UBC Olympic Triathlon. A pool maze swim, a windy and cool bike and a sunny, still windy run made for a good early race and both athletes did well. Placing 5th and 6th in their respective age groups made for a satisfying finish.

Coach Rachel was happy to find them on the staggered start course and proud to see them finish strong. A friendly rivalry between these two will continue to fuel the fire as the season builds. Nice work guys.

And another lil' triathlete is born!

As well as pulling off some great races, we seem to be reproducing pretty quickly here at Mercury Rising. Welcome to the world Adelaide Elizabeth Hopwood! Dad Jeremy is an outstanding athlete who raced his first Hawaii Ironman last fall. All the best to him, mom Leslie and the new little girl!
