The difference a year can make...

Last year at Multisport Canada's Try a Tri in Calgary, Leanne Sherman celebrated completing her first triathlon. Her swim was a mix of strokes, and she placed near the back of her age group. Today, she raced her way to 4th place out of 91 ladies in her age group!!! Hard work pays off. Way to go, Leanne!

Kerry hits the middle of the pack!

Long-time Mercury athlete Kerry Enick had a breakthrough race on Sunday at the UCTC super sprint in Calgary. Kerry started his athletic journey 9 years ago at 340 pounds. Over those years Kerry has lost 160 lbs, and run multiple running events, triathlons, marathons and even Ironman Canada in 2009. Usually finishing in the bottom third of every race, Kerry was delighted to finish 59th/102 and 6th in his age group! Congratulations Kerry from the Mercury team.

On Saturday, Kendall, Carolyn and Tessa all ran the Women's Half Marathon in Canmore. From their reports, the race would have been more aptly called "The Women's Mountain Marathon" as the course was largely on trails, hilly and 23km! None-the-less cutie Carolyn managed 9th overall, and 4th in her age group. Hot on her heels for most of the way was Kendall, and Tessa, after her first winter of injury-free running, managed a stellar run (sans swagger but with swag!).

Well done to all!

GREAT WEEKEND!!

Congratulations to Carolyn Leonard who won the 40-49 age group (out of 349 runners!) at the Mother's Day 5k in Calgary in a time of 21.40. Young Carolyn is becoming quite the little runner!!

Also, Julie Anderson finished 2nd overall in the Lethbridge Olympic distance triathlon. It was also her first time running hard after a foot injury kept her on the elliptical and in the pool for 6 weeks! Yay Julie!

Way to go Team!!

RACE WINNER!!

Congratulations to Shana Graham who was the first place female at the Icebreaker Sprint Triathlon in Regina this morning!! Conditions were rough, with sleet, mud and temperatures around zero. Despite the rough conditions, Shana's husband Todd also had a solid race, coming in 4th overall and Nick Doulias finished 16th, both running personal best times.

In Barrie Ontario, Carlos (our very own web-guy!) ran an impressive 41mins at the Sporting Life 10k, Cathy Noel of Victoria ran 1.55.54 at the Vancouver half marathon and Teresa Copeland finished her first marathon today as well!

Congrats to all!!
